    I really love this board. The review makes it sound a bit basic but I don't think that's what the reviewer was going for. It's a good and solid board that does carves and powder really well. Even at speed. You'll love how "chill" it can be. Some people think it's boring that it makes things so easy but hey, everybody wants something else. I enjoy riding this thing and not having to struggle too much in the 7 to 12/14 days a year im enjoying the mountain. It's not so much designed for park but I guess you can do some jumps with it. The thing is there are better boards that are better at park. When I feel like jibbing etc I take another board but in general I ride this one.

      It’s a rad board for sure, but I still preferred the ride on the K2 Alchemist overall. That said, the Nidecker might be a better choice if you’re heliboarding and heading to some serious steep alpine spines. If I were fully reliant on a board to get me out of an avalanche situation before getting swept away, I think I’d take the Nidecker instead haha

    I have had this board for a while (black/yellow, previous year model, 159). 5’10, 175+ lbs, size 9W boots, Union Falcors. I love almost everything about it, but am looking for a 2nd board better for the deeper powder days (Wasatch Mts etc) while not compromising performance on steeper/technical terrain too much. I have been considering the Korua Dart, Korua Dart Plus, BSOD, Jones Storm Chaser, Ultra Flagship, etc. What 2nd freeride, more powder-capable board would you recommend pairing with my Mega Merc?

    • @AngrySnowboarder
      @AngrySnowboarder 6 днів тому

      Why not just get a real powder board. Out of what you have listed the only one that stands out is the Storm Chaser and that's probably too far into the powder spectrum than you want to go so I'd say go to the Storm Wolf instead.

    I just bought new gear. Last time I bought snowboard gear before now was late 90s. I bought new everything for a trip to Argentina and then Japan. I haven’t ridden since 2017, and before that it had been 9 years since I rode. In 2017 I rode my Burton custom from late 90s, wore all my gear from then too, except boots and googles cause both of those were toast. My goggles melted in my hand when I got to the mountain and I had to ride in sunnies. And my boots were also disintegrating. :( Crazy, cause all my gear still worked, I looked legit 90s retro, and I still burned everyone down the mountain and had ski patrol telling me to slow down. I grew up riding in Tahoe, so it’s still like second nature. I’ve been living in Hawaii 25 years that’s why I don’t ride, but I surf everyday still. Anyways, I got me one them there Orcas based on a recommendation from my surfer buddy’s grandson who’s a sponsored grom in Alaska. I thought I’d never go LibTech again since they sucked compared to Burton growing up, but he says the tech has finally caught up and now Burton sucks. So I’m kind of excited to see what this new tech is all about. I’m gonna bring my OG custom with me too just in case I don’t like the newer boards. I grew up on full camber, never worried about catching edges, never thought about it and it never really happened. But the idea of having a set back, volume adjusted, board with a floaty nose in pow sounds pretty rad to me. My Custom also worked just fine, or maybe I never knew the difference. Anyways I’m excited about new shit, it’s been like 27 years. But you’re right, it won’t get used enough! :(

      Bamboo and Paulownia mixed with poplar, birch, etc. Hemps cool but for the most part every brand that's built with it has had the same reaction it really doesn't improve the ride.

    • @narrowistheway77
      @narrowistheway77 7 днів тому

      The thing with hemp is that in order to make “wood” with it, the stalks have to be shredded into fibers with some of the excess discarded, and then you have to use a proprietary process to mold the fibers into a wood plank using protein resins to bond it together. Then after that it needs to be finished and laminated for snowboard use…… it’s actually a super time consuming process and it amounts to using overpriced particle board in the snowboard core. I think with minimal usage there might be some application for it in snowboarding, but compared to Pawlonia, Aspen, Beech, Ashwood, Balsa, Bamboo, etcetera I doubt it’ll ever be as widely used for core material. We already know what’s working really well with regards to renewably grown trees for making wood cores 😉👍🏼

    Great to have you back. I have to disagree with the Archetype, I know a lot of people think they are great on groomers as well. It is amazing in powder and my number 1 choice but for groomers it's way too soft, I'd fold the nose. I find that all the endeavor boards are on the softer side of the scale.
